THE STATE-BASED UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE ACT REINTRODUCED TO U.S. CONGRESS!
On July 15, 2025., Sen. Ed Markey and Rep. Ro Khanna, along with other federal and state lawmakers, and activist leaders including One Payer States President Chuck Pennacchio, gathered at the U.S. Capitol Building to announce the bill’s reintroduction.
The act will empower states to use federal dollars to fund universal health care plans they create. By winning universal health care at the state level we can gain the momentum to achieve universal, affordable health care for all people in the United States.

What is one-payer universal health care?
#1: Publicly funded. Privately delivered. Middlemen insurance companies are cut out of payment. Health care providers are funded directly by the government, but deliver care privately.
#2: Health care freedom. Every American has full coverage. No copays, No deductibles. No hidden fees. Choose your doctor and don't allow insurance companies to get between personal medical decisions.
#3: Pro-business and pro-entrepreneurship. Employers must no longer pay overhead for employee health insurance. Employees are free to leave their jobs and create their own business without losing health coverage.
